Qigong

The term “qigong” is a combination of two words: "qi," which means “subtle breath” or “vital energy,” and "gong," which translates to “skill cultivated through steady practice.”

Together, the words describe an age-old practice that harnesses the power of breath, movement, and intention setting to create health and balance within the body.

Qigong for Eating Disorder Recovery

Qigong is a sequence of slow movements. The benefits are numerous including gentle, easy-to-learn sequences that loosen stiff joints, keep the spine mobile, strengthen the core, and improve balance. Qi gong elevates one's sense of well being and mood by increasing circulation and more.

Preliminary studies suggest that the slow movements in Qigong along with slowing of breath frequency could restore balance of the autonomic nervous system reducing stress and anxiety.
