“Resistance is never the agent of change.  You have to embrace the actions that are going to get you closer to your goal.” -Ali Vincent

Resistance is futile! That’s was the joke when I lived in the ashram. Have you experienced resistance to your New Years- New You goals, yet? I’m not trying to be a Debby Downer but rather I would like to bring up the important role of resistance and acceptance in our conversation here. Of course, this can be a conversation anytime you want or need it to be. You can reply with your comments, insights, experiences and questions anytime and I’ll reply back. Anyway, sometimes we see resistance as a nuisance or a “bad thing”. Actually, it’s quite the opposite. Resistance is a sign. It’s a sign that you are on the right track. Resistance occurs when you are closing in on a new level of growth. Just like a flower bulb in the spring that shoots up out of the ground. It must break through the crust of the earth, and you have to “break through” to the New You. This is where acceptance comes into play. Sometimes, we fall off the wagon! Trust me, I’ve fallen off the yoga wagon many a times before. Accept that falling off and resistance is part of the process. Get back on the wagon, with awareness and quickly! Recall the slogan, Just do it and do it with compassion for yourself! Now, stand up and breathe, you’ve probably been sitting a while, so here is a little reminder. Stand up, lift your arms up over your head with an inhale breath…Let your arms come down to the sides with the exhale. Ahhh…Try it again…Give yourself 3 deep breaths and remember what you set out to do this year. Reflect on your intentions. It doesn’t matter if you fall of the band wagon…what matters is that you get back on with kindness to yourself, and don’t be shy about asking for help. That’s part of it too. We all need a little extra support sometimes. I’m here for you!

“Breathe and let be.”
